The 45th martyrdom anniversary of martyred President Ziaur Rahman was celebrated with due dignity in Maldives. On this occasion, a discussion meeting, prayers and supplications were organized at a hotel in the country’s capital, Male, on the initiative of Maldives BNP.
Maldives BNP President Khalilur Rahman presided over the event. Maldives BNP Chief Advisor Faruk Hossain, Vice President Shah Alam, Md. Faruk Hossain, Moktar Hossain and Joint General Secretary Rabiul Alam spoke at the discussion meeting.
The speakers highlighted the colorful political life of martyred President Ziaur Rahman, his courageous role in the great liberation war, the declaration of independence, the establishment of multi-party democracy, the development of Bangladeshi nationalism and various aspects of his contribution to the development of the country. They said that the nation remembers Ziaur Rahman’s contribution as one of the architects of modern Bangladesh with deep respect.
Deep respect was paid to his memory at the event and special prayers and supplications were held for the forgiveness of his soul. The prayers and supplications were led by Alamin, the convener of Maldives Medina Jamaat.
Maldives BNP Organizing Secretary Rafiqul Islam, Co-Propaganda Secretary Jamal and leaders and activists of various levels of the party were present at the event. In addition, a large number of expatriate Bangladeshis from different parts of the Maldives including Tilafushi Island participated in the event.
