The 45th martyrdom anniversary of BNP founder martyr President Ziaur Rahman was celebrated with due dignity in Malaysia. On this occasion, Malaysia BNP organized a prayer mahfil and discussion meeting. Malaysia BNP Vice President Abdul Jalil Liton presided over the event held at the auditorium of the Asto Hotel in Kuala Lumpur on Saturday (May 30). Mymensingh-10 MP Aktaruzzaman Bachchu was present as the chief guest. Malaysia BNP General Secretary Mohammad Mosharraf Hossain was the main speaker.
The prayer and discussion meeting was jointly conducted by the party’s Deputy General Secretary Kazi Salauddin and Office Secretary Md. Aminul Islam Ratan. At the beginning of the event, Maulana Isfaq Hossain recited from the Holy Quran. Later, he led a special prayer, seeking forgiveness for the soul of martyr President Ziaur Rahman.
The speakers at the discussion highlighted the political life of martyred President Ziaur Rahman, his statesmanlike leadership and his contribution to the independence and development of Bangladesh. They said that Ziaur Rahman played an important role in the establishment of multi-party democracy in the country, the development of nationalist politics and economic progress. The speakers mentioned that his ideals and patriotism are exemplary for the new generation.
Chief guest Akhtaruzzaman Bachchu said that martyred President Ziaur Rahman was not just a political leader, he was a symbol of the independence and sovereignty of Bangladesh. The nation will forever remember his contribution to establishing the rights of the people of the country and protecting national interests.
Chief speaker Mohammad Mosharraf Hossain said that BNP leaders and activists should work unitedly by embracing the ideals of Ziaur Rahman. He called on them to play a role in the country’s democracy, development and welfare of the people even while living abroad.

Jasim Uddin, Swechchhasebak Dal Member Secretary Helal Sikder, PhD Scholar Professor Safiur Rahman, JASAS Convener Asaduzzaman Masum, Jubo Dal leader Masudul Alam Kajal and Chhatra Dal leader Adeeb Anjum also spoke at the event.

In the last part of the program, special prayers were offered for the forgiveness of the soul of martyred President Ziaur Rahman, peace and prosperity of the country and the nation, and the welfare of the Bangladeshis living abroad. The participants in the prayer mahfil paid deep respect to his memory and expressed their determination to work unitedly to implement his ideals.
