In his budget speech in the National Parliament today (Thursday), the Finance Minister said that a plan has been taken to increase the total development expenditure and comparatively reduce the operating expenditure in the next fiscal year. Through this, more importance will be given to development activities in the government expenditure structure.

In the proposed budget, Tk 3 lakh crore has been allocated for the Annual Development Program (ADP). The total development expenditure has been estimated at Tk 3 lakh 16 thousand 75 crore. On the other hand, Tk 6 lakh 21 thousand 925 crore has been proposed for allocation to other sectors including operating expenditure.

In his budget speech, the Finance Minister said that the government is gradually following the policy of increasing the share of development expenditure in the budget. Accordingly, it has been proposed to increase development expenditure to 33.70 percent in the next fiscal year. Which was 27.27 percent in the revised budget of the current fiscal year.

At the same time, initiatives have been taken to reduce the share of operational expenditure. Although 72.73 percent of the total expenditure in the current fiscal year was spent on the operational sector, it has been proposed to reduce it to 66.30 percent in the next fiscal year.
