World Cup football and Colombian pop queen Shakira are an inseparable equation. The opening ceremony of the 2026 FIFA World Cup was held at the historic Estadio Azteca stadium in Mexico City. And on that magnificent stage, Shakira sang the official anthem with Nigerian sensation Burna Boy and captivated the entire gallery. However, not only her performance on stage, but also a fascinating incident outside the field and a mysterious controversy surrounding her, this singer is now the center of attention on the Internet.

At the opening ceremony, Shakira and Burna Boy performed their official track ‘Dai Dai’. However, a backstage video after the performance is now very viral on social media. In the viral video, it can be seen that after the performance, Shakira and her dance team were being instructed to leave the field, when Shakira suddenly started dancing with her brother Antonio Mebarak, breaking all protocol or rules.

Despite the security guards repeatedly asking them to leave, the two siblings seemed to be lost in their own joy. Seeing the beloved star’s spontaneous appearance, one fan wrote, ‘Two children from Barranquilla enjoying dancing in the Astecar field.. This is real Shakira.’ Another commented, ‘Ha ha ha, I love her! She is always herself.’

Meanwhile, a new mystery and controversy has arisen on the net regarding Shakira’s presence at the opening ceremony. Many claim that the person who performed on the field was not actually Shakira, but rather a ‘body double’ or fake form. Shakira, who wore a neon-yellow mesh outfit, matching gloves, white shorts and platform sneakers at the event, had her eyes covered by large black sunglasses. And it is because of this hidden look that doubts are mainly raised in the minds of fans. One netizen wrote, ‘Am I the only one who thinks she is not Shakira? They brought a fake Shakira.’

The controversy was further fueled by Fox TV’s live broadcast. Fox TV did not show the opening ceremony live before the opening match of Group ‘A’ between Mexico and South Africa. However, the ‘Telemundo’ channel did broadcast the performance of Shakira and Burna Boy live. However, there is no clear reason why Fox did not show it live.
