“Healthy workers, hardworking hands; a new dawn is coming” – this is the theme of the May Day and National Occupational Health and Safety Day 2026 celebrated with due dignity in Bagerhat. On the morning of May 1, a colorful rally and discussion meeting was organized by the district administration.
Bagerhat Deputy Commissioner Golam Md. M. A. Salam, former president of Bagerhat District BNP and current district BNP coordinator, was present as a special guest at the event chaired by Baten. Speaking as a special guest at the discussion meeting, M. A. Salam emphasized on ensuring fair wages for workers and creating a safe environment at work. He said that the tireless work of workers is the main driving force of the country’s development; therefore, ensuring their health protection and legal rights is one of the responsibilities of the state.
Earlier, a colorful rally led by the Deputy Commissioner circumambulated important roads of the city. Officials of the Department of Labor, members of law enforcement agencies and leaders of various labor organizations were present at the event.
