Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) Administrator Md. Shafiqul Islam Khan has clarified that no space has been leased for a livestock market under the metro rail station or on the road in Uttara Diabari in the capital. He himself went to the spot at 1:30 am to take action to evict the illegally set up market and confirmed that a cleaning drive is currently underway there.
DNCC Administrator Md. Shafiqul Islam Khan said these things during the visit of State Minister for Local Government Mir Shahe Alam to the Diabari livestock market on Wednesday (May 27) afternoon.
Administrator Shafiqul Islam Khan, mentioning the immediate steps he took, said, “Taking advantage of the sudden heavy rain, some traders took up positions under the metro rail station with their cows. We removed them for the first time as soon as we came to know about it. Later, when we found out that they were trying to sit down again, I myself reached the spot at 1:30 am and took strict measures and completely cleared the road.”
He further said, “This place was not leased from DNCC. Strict action has been ordered against those who tried to operate there without paying attention to the rules. Strict warnings have also been given to the leaseholders. The entire area has been brought under cleaning activities since this morning.”
During the inspection, State Minister for Local Government Mir Shahe Alam also praised the administrator for this quick and strict initiative and urged people not to listen to the confusion spread on social media with a video of a rain three days ago.
